Viking 7-Ply Stainless 4-1/2-Quart Saucepan with Side Handle

Kitchen Must-Have
This pan was my Mother's Day gift. I never had a pan this size and now I wonder how I did without it. It is large enough to cook family meals. The helper handle comes in handy. Clean up is a breeze if you use Bar Keepers Friend. I love the saucepan as well as all Viking cookware. Before purchasing Viking cookware, I was torn. I saw all the TV chefs using All-Clad. I was fortunate to be in a store which sold both Viking and All-Clad. If you hold both brands in your hand, there is no way you can choose the All-Clad. Viking has more heft but it is easy to hold due to the balanced handle. When lifting the pan, your forearm actually leans on top of the handle. Viking has a video which shows this and it makes it very easy to use. Even for me, a petite middle aged woman who weighs 100 pounds, I am able to handle these pans with ease. The cover fits securely on the pan. It has 7 layers of stainless steel and aluminum alloys. I never have hot spots and everything cooks evenly. Cleaning...

Beautiful 4.5 Qt. Stainless Steel Saucepan to Use With Ceramic-Top Electric Range
Purchase of a ceramic-top electric range motivated the purchase of this beautiful 4.5 qt. stainless steel saucepan, which replaces a 4.5 qt. anodized aluminum saucepan with a lower melting point. I find that the 4.5 qt. size is perfect for boiling water to cook pasta, potatoes, and corn on the cob.

This is far and away the best of my three 4.5 qt. saucepans. The design is attractive, and it comes with a matching lid. The saucepan itself weighs 4.5 lbs., is 4.25" high and 8.5" across the bottom, and has a "helper" handle that makes it easy to pick up when full of water. All three handles (body, helper, lid) are secured by rivets. The pan is oven-safe to 600 degrees, although it's risky to use any long-handled pan in the oven. (Someone always tries to pick up the pan by the handle right after the pan comes out of the oven.)

Second best is my years-old Calphalon Commercial anodized aluminum saucepan (somewhat similar in appearance to this one:...

If you can have only one
I wish to not be repetitive with my review. I got this vessel today after sending back a 3 qt. CIA. There is no comparison; the Viking is far superior. Cookware is very personal and intimate. When these conditions apply, buy the best you can afford. Think: Husband or Wife or car or house. Ihis pot will be available for service to someone until the second coming.
