King Kooker CIFFB 6-Quart Cast-Iron Dutch Oven with Aluminum Lid and Basket

Doesn't measure up to industry standard
I don't normally write reviews but I felt I must save anyone who is contemplating the fine art of Dutch oven cooking from this product. I have a number of Lodge ovens and the beauty of acquiring different sizes over the years is that the pots and lids are compatible and stackable. This product comes with a flimsy bent aluminum lid (really cheap, not like the solid cast aluminum lids of well made pots), and an equally flimsy basket. Oh well, I thought, I'll just toss the cheap lid and use my #12 Lodge lid. Too bad, the pot is not able to accept the wonderful Lodge flanged top.
Since good cast iron pots last forever, don't skimp! You will lose the opportunity to fall in love with this classic cooking hobby.

good product, bad shipping
We really enjoy the product. However, when we got them in the mail, we bought two, both of them came with the lid bent in several places. Not sure whose fault it is but that was a downer on the product.

Lynns Mercury 5 Quart Dutch Oven

A perfect pot for cooking vegetables
After using heavier pots for braising and sauces, I picked Lynns Mercury dutch oven as the other pot, which is perfect for cooking potatoes and other vegetables. It is nice looking and, if you want it to keep it looking this way, please do not put it in the dishwasher.

FancyCook Enamel Cast Iron Black Round Dutch Oven 4 1/4-qt. Close Out.

Cute but small
I have been admiring the Le Creuset pumpkin pot for awhile, but just couldn't bring myself to spending that much money. When I saw this little pot I thought it was cute, equivalant in looks to the more pricey version and a lot less. So, I bought it. When I recieved it it was much smaller then I imagined. It is cute and seems to be made well, but there were no instructions with it. Just the pot and that was it. The shipping was fast tho and it was well packed. For the price it's a good buy. Also, the orange is a really bright orange, not dull at all.

Isaac Mizrahi 6 Qt Cast Iron Dutch Oven with Lid - Green

This is one attractive and functional Dutch Oven
This is such a colorful addition to my kitchen. I was very reasonably priced. I took a dish to a potluck in this dutch oven and everyone admired it. I purchased it for the bread that is cooked in the oven and have not tried it yet. Love itI

Staub Oval Cocotte - 8.5Qt - Cherry

pure heaven
you soon forget the price - and always love the value. Far superior (imho) over the Creuset. Perfect size as well - any smaller and we'd be up the creek. :-)

Staub Cherry Enameled Cast Iron Wide Round Oven, 4 Quart

Pretty Color
I love Staub pots. They heat up evenly and retain heat, and the lids are perfectly fitting so not even a wisp of steam escapes. I love them for cooking soups, stews, beans and chili. Really worth the investment!

Essential for serious home cooks
This is a must-have addition to your kitchen. Perfect for cooking for 3, this cocotte operates from the stovetop to the oven to the table. This is is a deeply attractive colour too. Note: it is very heavy, so be prepared for heavy lifting when removing from oven. It braises meat excellently and the results are falling-off-the-bone-meaty-goodness. The option I chose on Amazon gave it to me at a cheaper price than it is normally advertised and it is cheaper than a le Creuset too. This is one pot that you will be using for everything- braises, stews, soups, curries- it works brilliantly for all of the cooking options. Did I forget to mention that it is good for baking and roasting too? Cast iron is the workhouse of the kitchen and this Staub makes all the heavy lifting worth it!

Staub 13.25 Quart Round Cocotte in Dark Blue 1103491

This pot is big enough to swim in!
Absolutely love this large Staub dutch oven. Yesterday I cooked a 15 pound fresh pork shoulder roast with plenty of room for potatoes and carrots. Once a week I use it for making a 4kg boule of artisan bread. The lid fits securely, sealing in the moisture creating a nice steamy environment for baking large boules of bread. Just be aware, if you have this puppy loaded with a pot roast, potatoes, carrots and liquid, it will weigh 25-30 lbs. A great way to get a workout and cook at the same time.

Staub 12.75 Quart Oval Cocotte, Graphite Grey

Huge French Oven - Great for Braising Ribs and Such
I stumbled into Staub cookware in late 2008 and was surprised that it was far better than Le Creuset (which is lighter, less tight and stains). These French Ovens ("Cocottes") braise better than anything else and the meat tastes great. If you don't know about braising, study up on it. It is the only way to turn a $2.50/lb junk meat (brisket, skirt beef, ribs) into something that tastes like it cost $9.00/lb. Braises cook for 4 to 6 hours at just under 200 degrees with meats, spices, vegetables (potatoes, carrots, onions and such) and just a bit of water, steaming everything into a savory blend.

The important thing to know about braising is that hours of low temperature cooking turns fats and connective tissue (tendons, ligaments, fascia, etc.) into liquids, softening tough meats and cooking out the harsh ("liverlike") taste of cheap cuts of meat.

I use this one for ribs, using a dry rub for most of the time and then finishing with a dose of sauce. Wonderful...

One heavy pot!
I was looking for a pot that was big enough to roast a goose in. This pot has the length, but it could be a bit taller. Although it cooks very nicely, it can get extremely heavy to lift out of the oven.
